Meet Mandy

Mandy is one of the most gentle and sweetest chihuahuas I have ever met! She loves attention and to be stroked softly. She is a companion to my good friends Al and Nicole. Mandy loves reiki energy and when I vistit I often give her an informal session. She often responds by giving me "kisses" either on the hand or sometimes jumping up to reach my lips! Afterwards, she often takes a short nap still curled up in my lap, quite content.

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Universal Life Force Energy. A Reiki Practitioner taps into an unlimited source ofthis energy and is able to channel this energy to the client to promote spiritual, mental and physical well-being.

The knowledge of an unseen energy flowing through us and all living things has been part of the wisdom of many cultures for thousands of years. The existence of the Universal Life Force Energy has been documented by recent scientific experiments and medical doctors are considering the role it plays in the functioning of the immune system and the healing process. Reiki is not to be considered a substitute for appropriate medical or emotional treatment but it can be used in conjunction with these treatments.

Dr. Mikao Usui is the founder of the Reiki system of natural healing.

Weekly Profile: Meet Rolf the Dog

HEALING REQUEST FROM ROLF
Rolf is a very sweet soul. I was sitting at the kitchen table and Rolf was sitting by my feet. He placed his paw on my lap and I placed his paw back down on the floor. He again placed his paw on my lap and again I removed it. This pattern continued 10 times until finally I asked him what is was that he wanted. I placed my hands near him and began to do some reiki. When I did that, he removed his paw from my lap and laid down at my feet. At that moment he gave a hugh sigh and began to become very relaxed. After about 15 minutes, he got up placed his chin in my lap and licked my hand, then walked away! I realized that he needed some healing energy and when Rolf felt that the session was complete, he thanked me in his own way and then carried on with other activities!

Weekly Profile: Meet Shila the Cat

HEALING SHILA WITH REIKI

Shila had surgery performed and had an incision on her abdomen. After a few days, she started to lick and chew at the stitches, causing the incision to be re-opened and it had started to bleed. I applied reiki to the wound everyday for 4 days. The wound closed, she stopped irritating the stitches and when she had the stitches removed, the incision had healed "purr-fectly"!

Reiki For Animals

HEALING OUR PRECIOUS COMPANIONS

Reiki is a gentle energy healing modality that animals really seem to gravitate towards and love. Animals love to receive a reiki session and become more relaxed throughout the treatment. Sometimes even falling asleep! Reiki heals on all levels of body, mind and spirit, making it truly holistic in nature. In a reiki session, the practitioner will use specific hand placements and channel the healing energy into the animal. The healing energy will be dispersed throughout the body and go where it is needed. Reiki sessions can be done with the animal present, or through a distant session where the animal is not physically present. To do a distant session, all that is needed is the animal's name, age, breed & sex to act as an identification tag to lock into the "frequency" of that particular animal. A picture of the animal can be used as well, and is helpful, but is not nessescary. The length of a reiki session is determined by the animal. When the animal has absorbed the perfect amount of healing energy, they simply get up and leave to resume their normal activities!
